Off Site Backup

Backups are an important part of anyone's daily computer regime. Maintaining a copy of your important files off site is also importatnt, should something happen to your office that will not allow you access to it. While we have always stressed the importance of taking at lest a weekly backup off site for safe keeping, no tmany people actually do so. Automatic off site backups are an answer to this problem.

If you are a small office, with only a few PC's and no server, then Carbonite would be an answer for you. A current copy of your important date will be maintained for you with a continuous backup that is encrypted, with easy access to restore an accidently deleted file or files for up to 30 days post deletion.

Evault offers 256 bit encryption of your transferred data to their servers. Tehy also offer easy recovery of your data, from copies kept at 5 data centers around the world. Only the changes made to files are transferred during the regular backup window, so after your current data has been transferred, the backup will happen very quickly and safely. Unlike the Carbonite talked about above, Evault can also backup your Exchange Information Store (your e-mail) and your SQL databases (often used by accounting programs, time tracking software, etc.). You can even pull out a previous version of a document that is no older than the last 30 backups (if you backup 5 times a week, M-F, this would be 6 weeks).

A Special Note: Use of these services does not mean that you can do away with your normal backups. These services should be an addition to your normal backup schedule.

Drive Recovery

Yes, it still happens. While hard drives have made great stides in reliability over the years, the sad fact is that hard drives still can, and do, fail.
